Our mobility product specialist Alan recently completed a Quickie Q300M Mini Electric Wheelchair handover in Fife.
In addition to guiding the client through the process of configuration and demonstration, Alan also modified the Q300m with an emergency switch to give the young client’s parents additional control.
The Switch-It Remote Stop Switch (RSS) is a useful safety device which may be used in many environments. It allows an attendant to stop a power wheelchair being driven by the user via a radio frequency (RF) remote from approximately 30 feet away in an open environment. The attendant presses the remote button to inhibit the movement while the chair is active or driving. Pressing the remote button a second time will reactivate the chair controls (RSS-MR version only).
The Quickie Q300M can be customised with a choice of colour detailing, our client choosing vibrant blue and completing their new chair with a custom golf ball topper on their joystick controller.
Mobility is more than just getting from point A to point B—it’s about freedom, independence, and the ability to live life on your terms. The Quickie Q300M electric wheelchair promises to deliver all of this in a sleek, compact package. But does it live up to the hype? In this review, we’ll take an in-depth look at the design, performance, comfort, technology, and overall value of the Quickie Q300M to help you decide if it’s the right fit for your needs.
At first glance, the Quickie Q300M impresses with its modern, streamlined design. Available in a range of colours, this wheelchair doesn’t just blend into the background—it stands out in a good way. Whether you’re navigating through a busy urban environment or using it at home, the Q300M’s design is both practical and visually appealing.
Built with a robust frame, the Q300M is designed to withstand daily use. The materials feel high-quality, from the durable metal frame to the sturdy wheels. Despite its solid construction, the wheelchair remains relatively lightweight and portable, making it easier to transport when needed. Users will appreciate the attention to detail in the build, which gives the chair a premium feel.
One of the standout features of the Quickie Q300M is its exceptional manoeuvrability. Thanks to its mid-wheel drive system, the wheelchair offers a tight turning radius of just 112cm, making it perfect for navigating tight spaces like small apartments or crowded stores. Whether you’re making sharp turns in your living room or weaving through narrow aisles, the Q300M handles it with ease. The chair’s compact width of only 52cm allows users to easily navigate around the home or out & about.
The Quickie Q300M is powered by a robust motor that delivers a top speed of 6 mph, which is more than adequate for most users’ daily needs. The motor operates quietly and smoothly, offering a seamless ride whether you’re indoors or outdoors.
Battery life is a crucial factor for any electric wheelchair, and the Q300M doesn’t disappoint. With a range of up to 15 miles on a single charge, it’s well-suited for a full day of activities. The wheelchair also includes an easy-to-read battery gauge, so you’re never caught off guard by a low charge. In real-world testing, the battery performed reliably, even when tackling hills or rougher terrain.
The Q300M excels in its handling capabilities, providing a stable ride on various surfaces, from smooth indoor floors to rough outdoor paths. The chair’s suspension system effectively absorbs shocks, ensuring a comfortable ride even on bumpy terrain. Users who frequently travel outdoors will appreciate how the Q300M maintains comfort and stability, even on uneven ground.
Comfort is a major consideration for anyone using a wheelchair for extended periods, and the Q300M delivers here as well. The tilt-in-space seat is well-cushioned and supportive, with customizable options for seat height, backrest, and armrests. Whether you need to adjust the seat for a better fit or swap out components for personalized comfort, the Q300M offers flexibility. The elevating platform allows users to access standard tables, desks or counter tops.
The control system is intuitive and easy to use, with a joystick that responds smoothly to input. The interface is straightforward, making it accessible for users of all ages and technical abilities. For those who need it, there are also advanced control options available, allowing for further customization to meet specific needs. The Quickie Q300M is designed with accessibility in mind, offering features like adjustable footrests and headrests, which can be tailored to suit individual user preferences. These thoughtful additions make it a great choice for users with varying mobility needs.
Safety is paramount, and the Q300M includes several key features to ensure peace of mind. Anti-tip wheels provide extra stability, while an advanced braking system ensures the chair stops precisely when needed. The option to install the Switch-It emergency power control offers additional peace of mind to carers and families. Additionally, the wheelchair includes LED lighting for better visibility in low-light conditions, enhancing safety during evening outings.
